I met Paul in May 1976 when I was 14 at Frank and Peggy Spencer Dance Classes held at the Regal Ballroom in Beckenham over the Cinema. Later on in that year when I was then 15 Peggy decided to put together a new formation team. We started off as a four couple team, we then went to a six couple and finally a eight couple. We were all encouraged to compete individually. So we started off doing novice, then intermediate, then pre champ. We travelled all over the world with the team. We won the British a number of times. And the best we did at the Worlds was third, never quite being able to beat the Germans.
We also appeared on the front of a book, a record cover and did two adverts. One for Wilkinson Sword and one for Halifax. We appeared in several TV programs including This is your Life twice, once for Peggy and once for Judith Charmers. In the Deep End with Chris Seale. We did all the old Come Dancing series for a number of years.
After the team disbanded we took our individual dancing more seriously and went for lessons with Mark Parkin. We went on to win Pre of the Year at the Winter Gardens Blackpool. We then turned Amateur, the best we did was the last 96 at the Open British.
After that we stopped for a number of years. We then started back a little before I was 35 to start a Senior Career. Culminating in winning the Closed British Championships in 2003. We also travelled extensively with this part of our career, the furthest being New Zealand at the first ever World event. We then retired and started to teach at Dance World in Guildford. After a number of years we branched out to set up our own school Pacar Dance School in Alfold near were we lived. In 2010 we moved to Spain were we started to teach in a beach side bar. We then moved onto teach at the local Golf Club.
